14-year-old boy immolates himself; sustains serious injuries

Coimbatore, Dec. 17

A 14-year-old-boy set fire to himself when his father refused to buy him clothes for Christmas. Sounder, a resident of Podanur, works as a labourer. His son Gladwin (14) was furious when his father refused to buy him new clothes and set himself afire using kerosene at night. 

The family admitted him to government hospital. He is undergoing treatment and the hospital authorities said that he has sustained 40 per cent burns. 

The Podanur police are investigating.
