Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader, Thol. Thirumavalavan said that his statement to the media persons on temples had been misinterpreted, as he addressed the media persons at the Coimbatore Airport yesterday.
The BJP had chosen to trigger a furore using this opportunity, he alleged.
Thirumavalavan said that Okki cyclone affected Kanyakumari must be declared as a disaster-hit area. Also, the Central and State Governments should provide a relief amount of Rs. 50 lakh as compensation to families that have lost a member to the cyclone, in addition to providing them with government jobs.
He lamented that despite measures such as the deployment of CRPF personnel to handle the law and order in the RK Nagar constituency (which is going to polls on Dec 21), the in-flow of money into the constituency has not been controlled so far.
