In a bid to improve solid waste management, Bosch India Foundation(BIF) initiated a programme called 'Clean and Green Village' at Vellamadai Panchayat, Sarkarsamakulam block, here yesterday. This event was organised as part of the initiative of BIF to adopt villages and ensure their holistic development. The team distributed two dustbins to each house in the area to segregate solid waste and other forms of waste.
In the second phase of the programme, the BIF team plans to install a biogas plant in the village to dump the solid waste. The biogas produced will be used to cook mid-day meals at the Government Higher Secondary School in Vellaimadai.
The event was inaugurated by Sivagami, BDO Sarkarsamakulam block and Purusothaman, Head, RBEI/EVE. Magudapathy, Zonal Deputy BDO, Sarkarsamakulam was also present on the event.
