In situ protest by Government transport staff

Coimbatore, December 14

In a bid to press their demands regarding pension and wages, members of the State Transport Corporation Union staged an in situ protest at the main Transport Office on Mettupalayam Road here today.

According to the union members, they have not been receiving pension and also the wages extended to them are very low. Despite the Court ordering them to call off the protest, they complained that it had not solved the issue. Since the wages are insufficient, the workers are getting seriously affected. They said that the protest will continue for the next 48 hours. Till their demands are met, they will keep protesting in some form or the other, they added.
