Non BJP workers petition against Thol Thirumavalavan, attempt to burn him in effigy

Coimbatore, Dec. 11

Following the statement by Thol Thirumavalavan, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, regarding demolishing Hindu temples for building Buddhist shrines at Perumbalur, a group of non BJP workers submitted a petition to the Collector here today demanding action against him.



They alleged that his words had insulted and hurt the Hindu sentiments. Also, they tried to burn him in effigy but the attempt was thwarted by the police.

After raising slogans against the VCK leader, the workers reiterated that Thirumavalavan's words could foment communal clashes. Hence they urged the Collector to initiate action against him.
