Emphasising the theme ‘Let’s Run For A Healthy City and Healthy Life’, close to 3000 people took part in the marathon sponsored by KMCH here today.
Mr. K.Periaiah, Commissioner of Police, flagged off the marathon.
In a bid to create awareness among the people of Coimbatore about the need for a “Healthy city and healthy life”, the marathon was organised for the 24th time by KMCH, said the organisers.
The 18km marathon started from KMCH, Sulur at 6.00 am, and ended at KMCH, Avinashi Road at 9.00 am.
While talking about the event, Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami, chairman of the KMCH, said, “KMCH has been conducting this marathon every year to create awareness among the people to focus on good health by keeping them physically active. An active physical regimen plays an important role in overall health".
Following the marathon, a function was conducted on the marathon theme which was largely attended by doctors, staff, students and the public.
