Tamil epigraph used to cover open drainage, public and scholars shocked


Coimbatore, Dec 9

In a shocking incident, a Tamil epigraph was used to cover a sewage hole in Ganapathy here on Saturday.

It is reported that the Corporation workers had used this epigraph to cover a open drain.



Details on how and from where they secured this epigraph is yet to be ascertained.

It is believed that the scripture engraved in the epigraph belongs to an earlier period and the poem engraved on the stone is on Lord Muruga composed by famed Tamil Poet Arunagirinathar who lived during the 15th century.

The incident has hurt the sentiments of the Tamil scholars here who have demanded stringent action on the people involved in this shameful incident.
