Coimbatore, Dec 8
After persistent public outcry to change the one-way traffic on Krishnasamy Road (Brooke Bond Road) into double-way, the city traffic police have announced that the road leading from Avinashi Flyover will become two-way from Saturday (December 9).

S. Murugan, Sub-Inspector (Traffic), said "Commissioner of Police, K. Periaiah had discussed this issue with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic). Keeping in mind the accessibility issue of vehicles from Avinashi Road towards Mettupalayam (MTP Road), it was decided to revoke the one-way order and declare the road as two-way from December 9 . Installation of divider structures to mark the left-right separations are going on".
The vehicles from Avinashi Road hereon can access the flyover to reach RS Puram or Mettupalayam Road. Previously, the vehicles from Avinashi road were forced to use the ever congested Sukrawarpet junction and then use Flower Bazaar to access MTP Road or RS Puram. A PIL in this regard was filed by an advocate from the city who pointed out that the one-way has been benefiting only the mall located there but causing severe traffic chaos throughout the day.
This decision of the Police Commissioner is seen as a huge relief for the motorists.
