Swarga Foundation launches accessible restrooms at Government Schools

Coimbatore, Dec. 6 

To bring back hope in children with disabilities and empower them through education, NGO Swarga foundation has initiated accessibility projects targetting Corporation Government Schools across Coimbatore. 



According to a release, initially, the campaign was kick-started in 2016 on the 'World Disablity Day', which is observed on December 3 every year. 

After transforming the Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School, Ramanathapuram, user-friendly school for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), the Government School, Vagarayampalayam will also be equipped with facilities to enable children with disability to access the schools with ease. 

Going forward, the NGO plans to adopt such facilities in Corporation Schools at PN Pudur, SRP Ammani Ammal Corporation School, Government School, Arasur and Government School, Ganapathy, the release said. 

This project is a part of the nation-wide 'Accessible India Campaign' empowered by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) which has launched Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) aimed at achieving universal accessibility for PwDs.
