RK Nagar bypoll: Actor Vishal's nomination accepted after corrections made

Actor Vishal's nomination for contesting as an independent candidate in the RK Nagar bypoll has been accepted after corrections were made on his affidavit.

Vishal’s last minute nomination for the RK Nagar bypoll was earlier rejected by the election commission on Tuesday evening.

According to Velusamy, the returning officer, two of the nominees mentioned in his affidavit have claimed not to have signed the papers.

However, Vishal alleged that he has video evidence that the two nominees were threatened and chased from election office and that it a ploy to prevent him from contesting the elections.

Following the rejection of his nomination, Vishal had a heated argument with the returning officer and staged a road-roko in front of the election office in Tondiarpet. The police department has deployed 150 personnel to clear the road.
