MGR centenary celebrations: Streets turn open bars

Coimbatore, Dec 3

Hundreds of AIADMK cadres celebrated the MGR centenary consuming liquor in open in many parts around Ram Nagar here. This is in addition to the nuisance and furore caused by the innumerable structures erected for banners and flexes.

The Kalingarayan street in Ram Nagar turned into an open bar as groups of AIADMK cadres started quenching their thirst for all the world to see. Food and water packets along with empty liquor bottles were dumped on the roads.

"They have been behaving like this since morning. Sadly, there is no policemen around here to discipline them", lamented an auto driver.

Motorists and pedestrians had a tough time to use the streets as the boozehounds were meandering through the place.

"My two daughters and myself are waiting for an auto as we are scared to walk. These people are unpredictable", said Mrs. Selvi who was apprehensive of her family's safety.
