Even as crowds were pouring into the VOC park grounds where the Centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister MGR was to be held, the use of buses belonging to private educational institutions to transport public to the venue caused a flutter on social media.
Along with the many private vehicles that are being used to transport people from the city outskirts to the venue, buses belonging to private schools and colleges are plying around the city bearing the AIADMK party flag.
This blatant usage of school and college vehicles has not gone down well on social media, with various sections of the society, urging the Transport Department to take action against those who were involved in the act.
“In some of the buses, school students were also being taken to the venue. But largely, party cadre are only being transported,” pointed out an activist from the city.
The activist also alleged that the buses had been rented out to the ruling party.
