Strategic approach to safeguard Dy. CM's name in flex banners

Coimbatore, Dec. 3

In an attempt to not displease team O. Panneerselvam (OPS), the AIADMK cadre have come up with a new design of flex banners that prevent miscreants from scratching out the name of Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam, here.

In the newly designed banners that have replaced the damaged ones, the name of OPS along with the name of the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisamy (EPS), has been printed on the top, out of the reach of even the tallest of persons.

The issue with the flex banners came into light when the Madras High Court ordered the ban on usage of pictures of live persons on the banners.

AIADMK’s celebration of the MGR’s Centenary saw any number of flex banners with pictures of OPS and EPS being liberally used.

Even after the court order, banners continued to pepper the show, but without the photographs of OPS-EPS duo. The banners of AIADMK saw a new problem last week when a 32-year-old Raghu was killed on the road in an accident reportedly caused by the banners in Coimbatore.

The court had to intervene again by ordering the Government to remove banners that were put up on the sides of the Road in Coimbatore illegally.

The recent issue surrounding the banners was the bittersweet relationship between the camps of OPS and EPS. It resulted in the scratching out of OPS’ name from the banners by miscreants, which created a flutter in the OPS camp. Those banners put up near the Red Fields close to the Circuit House had the name of OPS scratched out.

These banners were replaced with the newly designed ones a day before the start of the MGR centenary celebrations.
