Rotary Club of Coimbatore honours govt school teachers

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore recognized the teachers from Government higher secondary schools in Coimbatore District under the Rotary Rural Education Augmentation Programme (REAP) by honouring them with ‘Outstanding Teacher Awards’. Stepping into its 74th year, the club organised this event on November 30 here. 



Dr. Kavidasan, Secretary, Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School, Mettupalayam, in his special address motivated the school teachers to deliver their best at all times.



Mr.Santiago Jesu, President of the Club, said, “the awards are given to high school teachers handling subjects like Science, Social Science, Maths, English and Tamil. Two teachers in each of the subjects are identified  for the award. Several parameters like number of students per class, pass percentage, class average, maximum mark scored in each subject, lowest mark in each subject and the location of the school are taken into consideration before selecting the awardees. The club will equip the hostels of six government schools with facilities like indoor games, fitness equipment, sports goods, mosquito nets, etc."

The club will organise an event to honour police personnel serving in Coimbatore's rural areas for their outstanding service, he added.
