Raghupathy's death: Govt should grant Rs 1 crore compensation, pleads VCK

Coimbatore, Dec. 2

The state government should ensure Rs. 1 crore compensation for the family of Ragupathy, the software engineer, who allegedly lost his life after ramming into a pole structure erected by the AIADMK cadres to celebrate MGR centenary celebrations here, demanded Thol. Thirumavalavan, chief of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK).

Mr. Thirumavalavan was at the city's airport to attend a private event in Erode.

Speaking to the media at the airport, he said that the Ministers of AIADMK should visit Kaniyakumari and other districts devastated by floods and cyclone instead of involving themselves in the MGR centenary celebrations here.

He also asserted that apart from financial compensation to Raghupathy's family, the state government should offer a government job for a family member of the deceased.

"If the Election Commission initiates steps to conduct the RK Nagar by-polls with urgency and transparency, then DMK candidate Marudhuganesh is sure to win", he said.

He also welcomed CPI (M)'s move to support DMK in the bypoll.
