Building collapses in the Nilgiris, three injured

Coimbatore, Dec. 2 

An old building adjacent to the Nilgiris collector office collapsed this morning injuring three people due to the incessant rains. 



After a tough struggle, the Fire and Rescue Services personnel cleared the debris and rescued the people who were stuck amidst the debris. Of the rescued, two are reported to have sustained severe injuries. All three are at present undergoing treatment at the Nilgiris District Headquarters Hospital.

Innocent Divya, District Collector of the Nilgiris visited the spot. 



"The tea shop in the collapsed building would be always thronged by people as it is adjacent to the district collectorate. Today being a Saturday and incessant rains had actually helped save many lives", said a local person.



Power cuts and minor lanslides were reported in several parts of the Nilgiris distict. Several places in Kundha, Udhagamandalam , Kotagiri and Coonoor are experiencing day-long power cuts for the second consecutive day.
