CM orders release of water from Thirumuthy dam

Coimbatore, Dec. 1

Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today ordered release of water from Thirumurthy dam from December 6.

The order comes in the backdrop of inflow to the dam rising to 630 cusecs. The moderate to heavy showers witnessed around the catchment areas of Thirumurthy dam and in the hilly terrains of Valparai has been contributing to the steady rise of water level in the dam.

The sluice gates of Thirumurthy reservoir will be opened from December 6 and 20 million cubic feet of water will be discharged, said a release.
