Owing to heavy showers in the Nilgiris District, several trees have been uprooted throughout the Ghat section from Mettupalayam to Ooty. Minor landslides have also been reported.
Hence, the Mettupalayam-Ooty main road has been temporarily closed. All vehicles have been advised to use the alternative route via Kotagiri, according to sources.
Holiday has been declared today for all educational institutions in Ooty, Kundha and Coonoor due to incessant rains.
