Banner for MGR centenary function damaged

Coimbatore, November 28

A banner erected in connection with the MGR centenary celebrations to be held here on December 3 was damaged by some miscreants.

Huge flex banners have been installed by the AIADMK partymen at all vantage points in the city.

In one of the flex banners erected on Avinashi road near Redfields, all the names of the senior party leaders including Chief Minister Edapadi K.Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam were printed. Some miscreants have torn the banner exactly at the place where Mr.Panneerselvam's name was printed.

This incident has created a flutter among the party members, who suspect that it could have been the handiwork of the Palaniswami or Dinakaran loyalists. There is also a rumour that some members of the public could have done so in a bid to protest against the death of Raghupathy,32, who is believed to have died after ramming into one such structure. on November 26.
