Coimbatore, Nov. 28
Security was beefed up at the Coimbatore international airport following the arrival of Hadiya, the 25-year-old woman from Kerala who converted to Islam.
Hadiya , who earlier was Akila Ashokan willingly had converted to Islam to marry Sheffin Jahan. Hadiya's father Ashokan had filed a suit in Kerala high court alleging that his daughter was brain-washed by Sheffin to associate her with ISIS terrorist organisation. After listening to his plea, the Kerala HC ordered Hadiya to live with her parents.
Denying the allegation of 'forced conversion' and association with ISIS, Hadiya moved the Supreme Court to revoke Kerala HC's order and accord her permission to live with her husband. In today's hearing the SC revoked the HC order and permitted Hadiya to live with her husband. As the young woman is pursuing her studies in Salem, the SC has ordered that she should be provided security, until she completes her studies.
In this connection, Hadiya landed in Coimbatore airport this evening from New Delhi. Hadiya's supporters and press gathered at the airport here eager to interview her. However, Hadiya immediately left for Salem by road amidst tight security.
