Men who wrote “Who Killed Ragu?” let off after formal inquiry

Coimbatore, Nov. 28

Peelamedu Police held an formal inquiry with Varun (26) and Prasanth (27) who had been brought to the E2 Police Station on suspicion of having written the provocative words “Who Killed Ragu?” on the spot where 32-year-old software engineer Ragupathy died on Saturday morning.

It may be recalled that Ragupathy rammed into a structure made of casuarina poles erected for making a mammoth arch, one of the many planned to mark the centenary celebrations of late TN Chief Minister MGR on December 3.  Whether he died from that injury or after being run over by a tipper lorry, as being claimed by the Police, is under dispute.

In the meantime, there was an outpour of grief and anger on social media, and this resulted in someone painting the provocative words “Who Killed Ragu?” on the spot where Ragu died.  This was later erased using bitumen and sand.

On Tuesday morning Police detained Varun and Prasanth,a former IIT-ian.  It was learnt that the two men were being interrogated for having painted those words, and Police were questioning them based on the CCTV footage.

E2 Inspector Selvaraj said that no case had been filed or no one has been booked, and that they were only questioning about who wrote those words and why they were written.

Advocate M. Balachandran, representing Varun and Prasanth told SimpliCity that the men were let off after the inquiry and no case has been filed.
