Jallikattu inquiry commission: Justice Rajeswaran to begin second phase of probe


Coimbatore, Nov. 27

The one man inquiry commission headed by Justice S. Rajeswaran, retired judge of the Madras High Court, appointed by the TN government to probe the law and order issues that took place during jallikattu protests will commence his second phase of inquiry here from  November 28 to 30, an official release said.

On Feb 17, Justice Rajeswaran inspected the VOC Park grounds, the epicentre of the protest along with CODISSIA grounds and Gandhipuram area where violence erupted after police lathi-charged on the protestors during the last day of the jallikattu protest. Damages to public property were also ascertained during his earlier visit.

The inquiry commission was formed after public and protestors alleged that the police needlessly lathi charged protestors and public causing grievous injuries and huge damage to public and private property.
