Coimbatore, Nov. 25
Questions have emerged if the MGR centenary function here has to be held amidst so much gloom as the high funda banners erected on the Avinashi road might have claimed the life of a youngster here on Friday.
Ragupathi from Chinniampalayam had just returned from the US to finalise a marriage proposal. According to reports, Raghupathi ,while on his way back home, banged against the poles on Avinashi road planted for erecting gigantic banners and flexes for the MGR centenary celebrations to be organised on Dec 3.
He succumbed to injuries on the spot.
According to sources, the poles have been planted by the AIADMK cadres without obtaining permission from the Corporation. And, the erected poles have been blocking the two of the six lanes of the busy Avinashi road.

The local public alleged that callous and unwaise act of the AIADMK cadres has claimed the life of a young man. The group involved in this should be taken to task. Will government accord permission to a common man to celebrate his private event by drilling the roads for erecting banners, question the social activists.
Commenting on this, the City Corporation Commissioner has stated that "No permissions were sought in this regard. And, action would be initiated against law-breakers".
The Ministers and MLAs are government servants appointed by the people to serve the state and to protect the interests of the people. But in reality, they behave as autocrats. How is that they cause damage to the public property and still get away ? Will a common man be allowed to dig giant holes on a national highway and still get away without any legal repercussions, lamented the public.
