According to sources, the victim Shakthivel was out to ease himself early morning on Friday when the incident happened on patta land.
He failed to notice the elephant that was nearby when it attacked him. Shakthivel died on the spot. Locals retrieved the body and sent it to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
