Coimbatore, Nov 23:
Mr. Harmander Singh, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, and also Monitoring officer, has urged the district officials to ensure fair disbursement of the benefits of welfare schemes announced by the government to the under-privileged and also to strictly monitor the sanitary conditions of the city. He was speaking at a review meeting held with all departments heads here on Wednesday.

Mr. Singh was conducting a comprehensive review meeting to discuss all the on-going and upcoming developmental projects of the city.
According to an official press release, during the discussion at the District Collectorate, he directed the officials from health department, civic administration, corporation and PWD to be prepared and well-informed of the preventive measures to curb seasonal diseases that spread through water stagnation and other sources.
The officials were asked to rope in school students to create awareness among the people on cleanliness, water stagnation and open defecation.
He also stressed that essentials distributed through public distribution system must be seamlessly made available to the public at all times.
And, those officials who are in-charge of infrastructural developments should regularly monitor the quality and progress of the work and submit a detailed progress report to the District Collector, he added. And, all pending projects should be completed, he added.
District Collector T.N. Hariharan, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, and District Revenue Officer Durai K Ravichandran were present.
