Coimbatore, Nov. 22
"Fixing bounty for actor Deepika Padukone's head for starring in a historical Hindi movie 'Padmavathi' makes us wonder whether we are really living in a democratic country?" wondered actor Prakash Raj at the Coimbatore International Airport today.
"And, it's the right wingers who pose such violent threats for the actor of a movie approved by the Censor Board. How pathetic!", the actor lamented.
Commenting on the suicide of film producer-director Ashok Kumar, the actor said "The growing loan-sharking issues continue to claim the lives of people. The suicide note by producer Ashok Kumar clearly indicates that a financier had pushed him to take the extreme step. The producers' association should devise ways to protect the interests of the producers."
When asked on the political entry of veteran actors Kamalhassan and Rajini, he said "There is nothing wrong in actors entering politics. If Kamal's comments are baseless and fabricated, everyone has a right to legally sue him but no one has a right to prevent him from commenting", Prakash Raj added.
