Condemning the hike in sugar price distributed through public distribution system (PDS), the DMK cadres staged demonstrations at several prominent locations here on Wednesday.
"Sugar being an important component for day-to-day life, the rise in price has certainly affected people who buy through PDS. Hiking the price of essentials in condemnable", said the agitators from Kottaimedu.
Later, all the DMK cadres all protest sites courted arrest. They said that if the government does not revoke the price, they would launch a series of protests throughout the state.
