"Govt wants us to stay positive but pays no heed to our pleas", lament HIV infected couple

Coimbatore, Nov. 20

"The government motivates us to approach life with positivity but on the contrary it pays no heed to our pleas", lamented a HIV postive couple at the grievance day here today.

Kubera Selvan from Singanallur along with his wife Amudha presented themselves with their 45-day-old baby to petition the District Collector that all their petitions to the concerned officials seeking financial assistance have gone in vain.

"We have been taking medicines for the sexually transmitted disease for more than 8 years. Hence, it has become increasingly difficult for us to lead life without any assistance. And, all our petitions seeking economic assistance from the government have gone in vain. Even the maternity benefits due to my wife are pending", Kubera Selvan regretted.
