Coimbatore, Nov. 20
"We would hoist black flags at our homes to condemn the salem division of Railways for delaying the construction of subway below the on-going new railway over bridge," said the representatives from Peelamedu Consumer Voice at the grievances day here today.

Members of Peelamedu Consumer Voice, and Peelamedu Residents' Association jointly petitioned to the District Collector on the delay in construction of the 'promised' subway at the overbridge.
"It was in 2011 after a great struggle the approval for overbridge was sanctioned. A fund of Rs. 30.50 crore was approved for the construction of an overbridge and a subway. And, since then the work of the over bridge has been going at snail's pace causing us immense hardship. Now, while the overbridge's work has almost reached its final stage, the Salem Railway Division is yet to commence the subway work," lamented the petitioners.
"To attract the attention of the officials and to highlight our plight, we have planned to hoist black flags at our residence on November 28", they annonced.
