Coimbatore, Nov. 18: GST (Goods and Services Tax) Service Centre and a mobile application named' GST AVATAR' was launched with much fanfare in the city by 'Govreports' in association with 'Coimbatore District CSC VLE Society' here today.
Both the organisations have been in the forefront when it comes to creating an awareness about GST among the business people and facilitating their smooth transition to the GST regime, one of independent India's major tax reforms aimed at ushering in an era of one nation one tax.
The inaugural function saw the gathering of people from different businesses from Coimbatore and its adjoining areas.
Mr. Muthu Venkatraman, President of Jewellery Manufacturers Association, declared open the 'GST Service Centre and spoke about the struggle being faced by small, micro and medium enterprises in adapting to GST regime.
While launching the Mobile application 'GST AVATAR', Mr. Abraham Paul Vatakenchery, Director for International Summit Rising India, emphasised the need for creating more awareness among small businesses about GST.
'GST AVATAR' was designed to benefit businesses, particularly the small firms to fulfil their tax compliance under GST regime without any major hassles, said Mr. V. Nagaraj, Managing Director, 'Govreports'.
"Fifteen GST Service Centres in different locations of the city such as Vadavalli, Thudiyalur, Ramnagar and Ramanathapuram will start functioning immediately and more such centres will be opened in the "not so distant future", said Mr. K. Gurunathan, President, Coimbatore District CSC VLE Society.
