The circuit house here has now become the most buzzling place in the city after Governor Banwarilal Purohit's visit on November 14. Representatives from various non-governmental organizations have queued up to meet the Governor who was here in the city to attend the 34th convocation of Bharathiar University.
This maiden visit by Mr. Purohit has triggered a political outcry, after he called for 'unplanned' meetings with top officials to understand the city better.
Apart from government officials, Mr. Purohit also met representatives of several trade bodies and NGOs and listened to their submissions. Adding to the list are the representatives of ex-service men welfare association who were there at the circuit house, from morning to evening to present their long-pending pleas including allotment of houses, additional reservations for children of ex-service men and life-time free bus passes for spouses.
After meeting the Governor, the representatives said this was the first time they got an opportunity to meet the Governor in person and submit the plea. They also appreciated the Governor for alloting time to listen to them.
"He has assured us that he would forward our petition to the Chief Minister's office", they said.
