Isha employee trampled by elephant


In a second incident of a human death caused by elephants within a week, a 24-year-old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Poondi late night here on Saturday.

According to officials from Forest department, the man, S. Manish Kumar, from Jaipur working as a system administrator at the Isha Yoga Centre in the foothills of Vellingiri hills.

On Saturday night around 9.30 pm, he had been roaming on the Mullankadu to Poondi Road near Vellapathi section of Bolampatti Forest Range. Since it was dark, he did not notice a wild elephant that was nearby.

The elephant immediately threw him to the ground and trampled him to death. His mortal remains were taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post mortem.

It may be noted that a man was trampled to death near Thadagam on Friday.
