"Labeling students as 'naxals' for fighting against anti-people policies is unjust" said Activist Valarmathi after release from Coimbatore Prison.


Just an hour ago, Social Activist and Student Valarmathi who was booked under goondas act and lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison was released. Following the verdict of the Chennai High Court questioning the motive of the Police for charging the student with Goondas act, Valarmathi was released today after being imprisoned for 57 days. 

Student Valarmathi was given a warm reception at the prison premise. Several political and non-political organisations, students gathered in large numbers at the prison to receive student Valarmathi who was arrested on July 17th, 2017.



Speaking to the media, Activist Valarmathi said that "It's atrocious on the part of the government to tag people especially students who protest against their ideologies as 'Naxals/Maoists'. I would continue to stand against the policies that are anti-people".

Later Valarmathi visited the Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam Office in Gandhipuram and paid her respects to Student Anitha who died in vain due to NEET and Journalist Gauri Lankesh who was killed brutally in Bangalore by unidentified people.
