Christian Medical college, Vellore one of the reputed medical institutions in the country has suspended admissions to its MBBS and Super specialties courses following disturbances caused to its usual admission processes and in the post NEET scenario.
The minority medical institution has stopped admission forthwith for the year 2017-2018 even as the single window NEET based admissions have become the norm all over the country.
“There is an effort to whittle down or obliterate the privileges enjoyed the minority institution, which has had its own admission process, and procedures in the past, which was ratified by the Supreme Court.” Said Soloman Sathish Kumar, spokesperson of the CMC
The CMC authorities have filed a petition in Supreme Court against the single window NEET based admission and the case would come up for hearing on October 11.
The fall out of NEET implementation has affected the minority students who have applied for 99 MBBS seats and 67 Super specialties in the 100 year old institution as the college has suspended the admission process for the current year.
