A 25 cent vacant site belonging to India Posts near Sidco Industrial Estate is soon to become an eco hotspot after officials from the postal department planted around 100 saplings in the area here on Saturday.

The property which is currently in possession of the Coimbatore Industrial Estate Post Office was cleaned of prosopis juliflora and other bushes by members of the Go Clean and Green Phase II, an organisation started by the Welfare of Residents Association recently.
The area had earlier given space to unwanted wastes and hence was cleaned up before being planted with four saplings.

In order to make the area better, it was proposed to plant more saplings in the vacant site to help the environment.
According to A.N. Chandini Begum, Inspector of Posts of Coimbatore South Sub-Division, a team of officials headed by Saradha Sampath, Post Master General of Western Region along with Chitradevi, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices involved in planting the saplings around the campus.

“We have taken up this initiative of planting saplings in all the vacant sites belonging with the department and this work would benefit the environment and thereby the public in all possible ways,” added Chandini Begum.
