Yesterday, a herd of wild tuskers entered the Varatuparai area in Valparai and ransacked a tea shop which belongs to Naseer, a resident of the same area.

The herd also rampaged the walls of the government Primary school and pulled out rice sacks meant for free noon meal for school children.

The ferocious tuskers went further and also caused damages to the pipelines and electricity poles. Struck in fear, the locals stayed in house and escalated the issue to the forest officials who despite heavy rains rushed to the spot and chased the wild tuskers into the forest.
