Following the round-the-clock rains in the hills of Valparai, landslides have been reported in several parts of the area.
Traffic both, up and down has been affected as huge trees and branches are blocking the roads. Several tin-roofed/asbestos houses lying on fragile slopes were also gravely affected due to landslides. However, no casualties are reported.
As rains are expected to pour down for another 2-3 days throughout the district, the people living in low-lying and in fragile landscapes are advised to re-locate to safer areas for time-being.
