Bathing ban is back in place in Kovai Kutralam falls, due to heavy rains in Siruvani catchment ares after two day hiatus. The deepening of the South West monsoon in the past three days have resulted in widespread rain fall in Siruvani range, the vital drinking water source for the city.
The ban for bathing is back after a two day hiatus, and the forest department has banned bathing owing to heavy flooding caused by the incessant rains experienced in Siruvani forests which resulted in tourists visiting the spot returning with disappointment.
The down pour has resulted in brimming of Chithirai Chavadai check dam, on Noyyal river and the water release in Rajavaikkal which is a feeder channel for many tanks and waterbodies in the city has been a cause for cheer for city denizens.
The storage level in Siruvani dam has risen to 11 feet from the earlier 8.5 feet. The rains have brought cheer to the Coimbatoreans as drinking water supply situation would get better with the bountiful rains and better storage level in Siruvani dam.
