ICCI Coimbatore Chapter welcomes new order passed by TN Electricity Regulatory Commission

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Coimbatore Chapter has issued a statement welcoming the order "Intra-State Transmission Tariff and other related charges" published by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Some of the salient features of the order:

1) There is no increase in the tariff for any category of consumers.

2) The Cross Subsidy Surcharges (CSS) has been reduced for third party power purchase by High Tension (H T) industries. This is welcome move since, it benefits the industries.

3) Another relief in the levy of the penal charges on 11 KV and 22 KV consumers for Harmonics Control.

4) There is no change in the Peak Hour timings which continues as usual as in the past.

5) There is no change in the Demand Charges or on the determination of the billable Maximum Demand.

6) TNERC has advised TANGEDCO to buy power from the power exchanges for about 10% of its needs as the prices are competitive. It has stated that the landed cost of the power from the exchange is less than the variable cost of the power purchased.

7) The increase in load limit from 7.45 KW to 12 KW for smaller industries will definitely benefit, particularly cottage and tiny units are the beneficiaries.

8) Though the TNERC tariff proposals are meant to give relief to industries, it has not accepted the demand of the industry particularly for removal of peak hour charges.
