Lending their moral support to NEET exemption and condemning the untimely death of Anitha, a medical aspirant from Ariyalur, the Pro-Jallikattu protestors consisting mainly of youth staged a massive protest in the newly constructed Gandhipuram flyover.

The youth vociferously shouting slogans against the State and Central governments for misleading the students community went in a procession in Cross cut road and walked up the newly constructed over bridge in Gandhipuram giving tense moments to the on lookers.
Tense moments ensued as some of the youth threatened to jump over from the bridge in support of the cause and the poor girl who ended her life as her dreams of pursuing a medical course lay shattered.

A huge crowd gathered beneath the bridge and for a brief time, it was just the public and the media who were present at the scene.

Later the police rushed to the spot and tried to convince the the agitators to withdraw their protests. However, the adamant protestors paid no heed to the police and continued to intensify their protests. The police arrested 19 of the protestors out of which 3 were female.
