Mandatory carrying of Original Driving Licence not necessary observes Madras High Court.



The Chenni High Court has made an observation that it is not mandatory to carry Original Driving license by all motorists, which is being enforced in the state from today.

Hearing the writ petition filed by Tamilnadu lorry owners Association Justice Durai Samy has  observed the judicial  opinion  and adjourned the case for the afternoon  in which  the High Court would seek  State Government’s view, and  ask it to file an affidavit as to why the sudden measures was carried out.

The government and the transport department has passed the order and opted to strictly implement it to avoid violation of road rules and to track and crack criminal activities too.

Even as the court has come to the aid of the common man giving a stay to the order, the man in the street not a relieved one until the final stay is obtained in the case.

Most of the motorists are in the habit of carrying only a photo copy of ODL and keep aside the original for fear of loss as ODL is accepted document as photo identification proof accepted universally
