Student Activist Valarmathi to undertake indefinite fast in Coimbatore Central Prison

The student activist Valarmathi of Periyar University, Salem, who has been arrested under the provisions of Goondas Act and incarcerated in Coimbatore Central Prison would undertake an indefinite fast pressing for a charter demands.

Demanding to give up Hydrocarbon extraction projects in Cauvery delta districts, the fasting student activist would urge the government to take punitive action on jail officials who are threatening those visiting her in the prison.

Valarmathi also alleged that the letters written by her is being censored and has not reached the addressed persons. She would also press for the demand that the Government should revoke her arrest and imprisonment under Goondas Act, without any conditions.
