All Party meet decides to stage agitation, rail roko demanding to introduce South-bound trains.

Demanding to reintroduce South-bound trains from the city, the all party meeting which convened today decided to stage a series of protests demanding train services to southern destinations including Madurai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari.

Even though the Podanur-Pollachi gauge conversion has been completed months back, the Southern Railway has not introduced train services to Southern Tamilnadu.

"A massive agitation would be organized on September 7, and a rail roko on September 13", said aid K.Ramakrishanan, Coordinator of the all party meeting.

“The southern railway is citing lack of funds to obtain coaches for south bound trains, so begging protest would also be staged drawing attention the rail passenger's plight”, he said.

Representatives of political parties including DMK, Congress, VCK, CPI, CPM, and MDMK took part in the meeting.
