"Shoulder pain is considered to be the third most common musculoskeletal disorder with an increased prevalence between the age group 40-50 years", said Dr.David V.Rajan, Founder of Ortho One Hospital during the special session on Shoulder Rehab which was convened at Ortho One hospital.
Dr.David V.Rajan, Founder of Ortho-One, Dr.M.Karthik Selvaraj, Shoulder Surgeon and Mr.Ganesan, Sports Physiotherapist convened the session.

Medical conditions like frozen shoulder, cuff disorders and instability were discussed in detail along with live demos on exercise protocol along with module-related training to give hands-on experience to the orthopaedic surgeons, sports doctors and physiotherapists.
Speaking on this program, Dr. David V.Rajan said, “Shoulder surgery is a very young sub speciality in India. While the quality of treatment in India is good, the number of surgeons in this specialty is considerably less. We at Ortho-One are trying to promote this sub speciality by providing more training and opportunities among doctors from the same field. It is a good networking and knowledge sharing session for experts attending the course especially the young physiotherapists who will benefit immensely as they deal with Shoulder prehab and rehab every day.”
"Frozen shoulders occur after an injury, overuse or also from conditions like diabetes and stroke. Generally, frozen shoulders are treated through exercises and constant monitoring and in some severe cases a surgery is performed. However, it becomes important to give timely diagnosis and treatment as it can affect the daily life of an individual", says Dr.David V.Rajan.
"The post op rehab program is more important to the shoulder and any other joint as it may not reap good results unless the patient follows the rehab protocol strictly", said the Dr.M.Karthik Selvaraj, Shoulder Surgeon.
"Reports say, every second a diabetic patient suffer from frozen shoulders. It is a known fact that many diabetic patients suffer from musculoskeletal problems and definitely frozen shoulder can be one of them. Such patients should keep a constant check on the sugar levels as poorly controlled diabetes is linked to muscular problems like frozen shoulder. The orthopaedic experts should understand these medical conditions and provide the necessary treatments” Dr.David Rajan added.
