Bank ATMs and branches witness huge crowds as banks to remain shut for four consecutive days

Crowded banks and ATMs have become the norm of the day, as the Nationalized and Private banks would not be transacting any business for the four consecutive days starting from tomorrow, August 12th.

While August 12 is the second Saturday, August 13 is Sunday, the usual holiday, Krishnajayanthi and National Independence day fall on August 14 and 15, which are National holiday making it a four-day banking holiday.

Consequently, the ATMs in the city including Saibaba colony, Cross cut Road, Gandhipuram, RS Puram and Mettupalayam Road are also witnessing more than usual crowd. The people are queuing up to withdraw cash from ATM kiosks feeling if the long weekend would result in scarcity of cash in ATMs.

While most of the customers use online portals to transact but those who have needs to withdraw cash in bulk chose to queue up in the banks including those who would want to deposit cheques.

“Since it's a long weekend, there are possibilities that ATMs' could run out of cash as all the people would be withdrawing cash from the ATM kiosks. I have faced bad experiences in the past as there won't be seamless refilling during such times. Hence i have withdrawn sufficient cash from the ATM" said a city denizen.
