Elephant movement in residential area panics people of Coonoor.


Driving back the Wild elephants which is presently camping near Kannimariyamman temple in Coonoor is posing a huge threat to the public and forest officials who are quandary as presence of calf elephant forces them to avoid firecrackers to drive herd back into the forest.

The movement of elephant herd into human in-habitations is increasing every day in Coonoor and adjoining areas, hence the public have urged the forest officials to chase the herd as they could pose a threat to human lives and property. 

However, the forest officials have desisted from using fire crackers to drive the herd back into the forests due to presence of Calf elephants in the herd.
