70 year old man succumbs to dengue fever at Government Medical College Hospital

Karuppaiah, a 70 year old man who was undergoing treatment for dengue fever at Government Medical College Hospital has succumbed to his illness today.

With the death of Karuppaiah the number of deaths due to dengue fever has climbed to 20 in the past one month alone. The increasing number of fatalities have made the people of the city panic stricken for the viral disease spread by the tiger mosquito. Over 50 patients are undergoing treatment for dengue illness at Government Medical College Hospital and they have been quarantined to prevent further infection in the city.
