The City Corporation has been conducting zone wise medical camps to check the outbreak of dengue in the city, as the vector borne disease has already claimed over 16 precious lives with over hundreds of people detected to be affected by dengue.
Hence, medical camps are being conducted ward wise to contain the outbreak of dengue. In ward 78, 86, 87, and 97 of North zone as many as 95 DBC workers and 3 medical doctor are camping and working to contain fever related illnesses.
About 13 fogging machines have been pressed in to service and Neela vembu decoction has been distributed to 1473 people of those areas. As many as 437 people have benefited in the medical camp in the North zone where two doctors 8 nurses and 39 DBC workers are functioning round the clock..
In the West zone 40 DBC workers, two doctors and 6 nurses are camping and so far, 197 people have been checked for fever related ailments in the camp. Likewise in the East zone 538 people have benefited in the medical camp.
"The Corporation machinery is working overtime to contain the breeding of mosquitoes (aedes agypti or tiger mosquitoes). Advising the general public to prevent rain water stagnation in old tyres, coconut shell, paper cups, and any other containers, the DBC workers ensure that mosquito breeding is prevented at any cost by door to door sanitizing and fogging measures"
Abate solution is mixed in containers to prevent mosquito larval breeding. The water storing containers in the households should be tightly closed and the water collecting cans behind the fridge should be emptied regularly", the officials from Corporation said.
Awareness campaigns are being organized in association with resident welfare committees, and also college students are roped in to conduct awareness campaigns in their respective areas by the Health officials of the city corporation.
