Security have been tightened in District Collectorate campus on the Public Grievances day to avoid any eventualities and police men are seen screening the visitors and their vehicles before they gain entry into the complex.

It seems police have resorted to screenings to avoid any unsavourty incidents like self-immolation attempts which has occurred during the the past week. In the last grievances day meet, Raja of Nagarajapuram near Podanur attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on himself and his four children under duress and the week before another man Saravanakumar of Sulur used the same tactic to urge the district administration to take action on their grievance petitions.

As the public from all over the district congregate on Public grievances redressal day held on every Monday of the week, the police have tightened checks and screenings, and vehicles are allowed to enter the campus after thorough checking.

The collectorate staff are asked to produce their ID card before they enter their respective offices housed in the collectorate campus.
