Isaignar 2017, a musical platform for city youth would take off from tomorrow


Isaignar 2017, the  musical platform for adolescent youth to show case their skills in instrumental music would commence from tomorrow. Over 440 budding musicians have registered for the competition and the qualifying rounds would start at 9 am tomorrow at Sarojini Natraj Auditorium.

Organized by The Hindu (Tamil) in association with Kovai Nanneri Kazhagam and Sarojini Natraj Trust, the event would be held for two days between July 29 and 30.

The finals are scheduled for Sunday 5 pm and famous singer Nithyarshiri Mahadevan and  K.Vinayakam, Director of Chennai silks would grace the occasion and distribute prizes to the winners.

The judges panel consists of Janaka Mayadevi, HOD, Music Department, Avinashilingam University and other faculty members.

Adolescent youth would be showcasing their skills in instrumental music and a musical bonanza is on the cards for the audience. String, pipe and percussion instruments from Guitar to Veena; Mridangam to Parai are to be played in the event by the participating contestants.

The programme will end with a gala musical concert by the Carnatic singer Nithyashri Mahadevan.
